The assessment process requires cooperation from and collaboration with all levels of faculty and staff. In the Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA) at NC State, assessment is fully supported by the Vice Chancellor and woven into the fabric of our everyday work.
Assessment efforts at NC State are somewhat decentralized, with assessment professionals working in different units around the university. The Office of Assessment in DASA has four main responsibilities:
- To support the annual assessment and comprehensive review of undergraduate academic programs;
- To support the assessment of general education competencies;
- To support assessment within units that comprise DASA; and
- To initiate and provide support for other campus assessment efforts, evaluations, and surveys as needed.
The mission of the Office of Assessment in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs is to champion data-informed decision making across the institution. Through education, support and leadership for the assessment of student learning and the facilitation of the comprehensive undergraduate academic program review process, the Office of Assessment assists faculty and staff as they collect and review data in order to enhance student learning through undergraduate academic programs, the general education competencies, Quality Enhancement Plan and co-curricular programs at NC State University.
